Light color test of the display

Flat panel displays are becoming more and more popular, and various display technologies are developing rapidly. Take LCD, LED, OLED, and E-Paper as examples. In order to maintain a leading position in the fierce competition, display manufacturers continue to strive to make their products more functional, more attractive, more vivid, and flawless.

In order to meet the high expectations of customers, the requirements for optical testing on the front of the screen are getting higher and higher. Therefore, the testing equipment supporting the flat panel display production line must be more accurate than ever. For example: Consumers’ expectation for entertainment is unparalleled realism. They want to be immersed in their own viewing experience, and do not want to see a screen that is too dull or too bright; the head-up display (hud) has very high requirements for brightness and semiotics. High, can be optimized according to different conditions, so that important data is easy to view and use; surgical field display must be accurately designed, focusing on safety and detailed visualization to support the best results.

The ability to test contrast and color, viewing angle, reflection performance, and pixel defects are all key to maintaining a leading position in the competitive market. In addition, there is pressure to reduce inspection costs, so manufacturers are looking for faster instruments with shorter measurement times.

The methods used to test flat panel displays in the past have many shortcomings. Manufacturers let technicians visually inspect the display, but these methods are difficult to standardize or ensure consistent results. Human vision is the most important referee to make a team perfect, but human vision is a subjective and inconsistent test. Another method is to measure the panel on site, but this method only provides partial coverage, is time-consuming, and may miss many defects.

Westboro Photonics overcomes these performance deficiencies by providing a complete flat panel display test solution, including:

Complete solution

Westboro Photonics' imaging colorimeter utilizes the latest technology to reliably measure brightness and chromaticity with high spatial resolution. Regardless of the industry, whether it is consumer electronics, entertainment, mobile devices, healthcare equipment, or head-up displays, the ability to accurately measure defects and mura in flat-panel displays is the key to a manufacturer's success. The included Photometrica software can find and report any critical defects and provide key performance indicators such as the consistency of LCD, OLED and other displays.

Integrated spot spectroradiometer and tristimulus colorimeter

Westboro Photonics' WP6ES and multi-camera imaging colorimeter (MCIC) series are the integration of spot spectroradiometer and imaging tristimulus colorimeter in the same instrument. Through automatic calibration, the accuracy of the imaging colorimeter is improved to the level of a spectroradiometer. Spectral data also provides radiation information and other measurement information. Measuring throughput and reliability are key requirements for production line testing. It is for these reasons that Westboro Photonics created MCIC. MCIC can achieve significant speed and reliability improvements by acquiring four three-stimulus imagers at the same time. 2D brightness and chromaticity can be obtained in 1 second.

Specialized software package

Our professional software packages support production productivity, and the powerful Photometrica software and its SDK allow these solutions to be integrated in fully automated test lines.

Electronically controlled lens

Westboro Photonics' WP6E series imaging colorimeter integrates electronically controlled lens functions with iris and focus control. These motorized lenses provide higher precision, precision and convenience for all applications. The system is calibrated for accurate brightness and color measurement at any lens focal point, from the smallest object distance of the lens to infinity.

Perspective

In many flat panel displays, as the viewing angle increases, the image quality begins to decline. For example, an LCD monitor usually has the best picture quality when viewed directly on the opposite side of the screen. The farther you move, the more colors will fade. Use the compact WP214 imaging colorimeter and CONOMETER 80 imaging photometer to understand the viewing angle performance of the display.
