AR/VR/HUD test

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) use near-eye displays (NED) to project near-eye images to produce a seamless, interactive real-world experience for users. In this growing market, VR is now not just used for games. It can also be used to treat anxiety, recruitment and training, pain management, social cognition to manage autism, etc. But with the continuous development of the landscape, people increasingly hope that the experience is consistent with the real world, providing ultra-clear visual effects, allowing people to experience shadows and textures in order to explore different worlds in a realistic and safe way. Poor quality and inconsistent lighting will make customers dissatisfied with the mediocre experience, so manufacturers must ensure quality and control the production of light throughput and chromaticity.

High imaging quality lens

Depending on the application, some NED devices may have display defects, and in the VR and AR experience, unevenness may be very obvious, reducing the user's practicality or fun. It is necessary to test these displays from the position of the design observer. This may require a specific field of view, focal distance, pupil entrance and pupil position. Westboro provides two lens smart series photometers with 5 mm entrance pupil and 48 or 67 degrees 10 mm (17.5 mm and 13.4 mm, 8 mm lens) allowing the lens to be placed in the same position as the pupil of the eye. In addition, the entrance pupil is set to 5 mm to simulate the diameter of a human pupil. These lenses have excellent MTF and distortion specifications with all data available. Finally, because the aperture is closer to the edge of the lens, they can measure a larger 68-degree field of view, which is more suitable for VR equipment. AR/VR lenses can be interchanged with other calibrated lenses, allowing additional testing of the display outside the device or on the production line.

For head-up displays, Westboro provides a variety of manual and electronic focusing lenses to measure the required field of view.
